Brainspotting

You may have tried traditional talk therapy in the past and though aspects of it were helpful, you still feel “stuck”. While things may have improved temporarily or you found ways to cope, you feel like therapy was a “band-aid” covering up concerns while ignoring the root causes of your pain.

You likely continue to experience debilitating physical symptoms, such as chronic illness, fatigue, stomach issues, aches/pains, a low immune system, headaches/migraines, etc with little to no relief.

Our bodies are incredible systems that can survive the unimaginable.

Although we have survived, we are still impacted by our experiences.

Brainspotting is a tool that connects us with a different part of our brain than in traditional talk therapy.

“ Where you look affects how you feel”

Brainspotting helps us connect with the subcortical brain (AKA our emotional brain), or the part of our brain that is directly connected to the body and how it functions/regulates itself.

This part of our brain is often ignored in talk therapy.

You likely have felt like your past experience in therapy was to solve problems and “fix” yourself to become the best version of you.

The main goal of Brainspotting is to release unresolved trauma our body has held onto. As we connect with certain eye positions across our field of vision, we are able to access what our bodies have unconsciously held onto. The eyes are considered “an extension of our brain”; once we connect with these specific spots, the body has the opportunity to reorganize and release the trauma.

Instead of needing to solve problems and make sense of what we experienced,

we use curiosity to help us reorganize and release what our body has held onto.

Oftentimes, trauma is stored in nonverbal parts of our brain, which is why talk therapy may have left you feeling stuck or unsettled. Brainspotting helps us intentionally connect with our bodies in a mindful way in order to relieve your system of pain and suffering.
